Can she let herself depend on Daniel? As Gemma and Harper plunge deeper into a magical world they barely understand, it becomes painfully clear that Gemma’s old life may be lost forever. She’s always been the strong one who everyone else depends on…. The search draws her closer to too-gorgeous-for-his-own-good Daniel, and tests her fiercely guarded independence like never before. Harper won’t give up on finding her sister Gemma, vowing to get her back no matter what the cost. Unfortunately, they’re growing stronger every day, and she’s not sure how much longer she can resist. Devastated that she has to leave everyone she loves behind, she’s still determined not to give in to the unspeakable hungers that plague her. Now that Gemma Fisher has inherited Penn, Lexi, and Thea’s curse – and all the strange new powers that come along with it – she has no choice but to run away with them. And as she uncovers the truth, she’s is forced to choose between staying with those she loves-or entering a new world brimming with dark hungers and unimaginable secrets. But her new powers come with a terrifying price. Suddenly Gemma is stronger, faster, and more beautiful than ever. They invite her to join them, and the next morning she wakes up on the beach feeling groggy and sick, knowing something is different. She’s taking a late night swim under the stars when she finds Penn, Lexi and Thea partying on the cove. Then one night, Gemma’s ordinary life changes forever. He’s always been just a friend, but this summer they’ve taken their relationship to the next level, and now there’s no going back. Gemma seems to have it all-she’s carefree, pretty, and falling in love with Alex, the boy next door. She’s the one they’ve chosen to be part of their group. Strangers in town for the summer, Penn, Lexi and Thea have caught everyone’s attention-but it’s Gemma who’s attracted theirs. They’re the kind of girls you envy the kind of girls you want to hate. I wouldn’t say its my favourite book series, maybe my second or third fave.įall under the spell of Wake-the first book in an achingly beautiful new series by celebrated author Amanda Hocking-and lose yourself to the Watersong. I think I would rate it 4/5 stars, but I don’t really have a reason why. I didn’t actually have a favorite character throughout this series but if I really had to choose, it would probably be Alex or Daniel. The series consists of four books: Wake, Lullaby, Tidal and Elegy (it also has an extra bonus story called ‘forgotten lyrics’ which has never been published.) This series isn’t for everyone but it has its far share of violence, romance and drama.

I decided to read it because it was recommended by one of my good friends and because it is written by the same author as ‘The Trylle Trilogy’ which I wrote a review on two months ago. I finished reading ‘The Watersong Series’ around a week ago.
