In 2003, the band was playing at the Miami Book Fair, and Ridley was staying at my house. We were a pretty terrible band. But we had a great time, and we became friends, and we kept on playing together, even though we never really got any better. Back in 1992, Ridley and I became founding members of the Rock Bottom Remainders, a band of authors that included Stephen King, Amy Tan, Matt Groening, Barbara Kingsolver and others.
